CAPMAS: 11% increase in value of Egyptian exports to Germany during 1st half of 2024

CAIRO - 11 September 2024: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed Wednesday, an increase in the volume of Egyptian exports to Germany.

According to CAPMAS, the Egyptian exports recorded $463 million during the first half of 2024, compared to $417 million during the same period in 2023, an increase of 11 percent. 

he volume of Egyptian imports from Germany amounted to $2 billion during the first half of 2024, compared to $1.9 billion during the same period in 2023, an increase of 5.3%.

The agency's data showed an increase in the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Germany, recording $2.5 billion during the first half of 2024, compared to $2.4 billion during the same period in 2023, an increase of 4.2 percent.

The most important commodity groups exported by Egypt to Germany during the first half of 2024 are:

1. Vegetables and fruits worth $93 million.

2. Electrical and mechanical machinery and equipment and their parts worth $68 million.

3. Ready-made clothes worth $65 million.

4. Fuel and mineral oils worth $50 million.

5. Grains and oil fruits worth $25 million.

 

The most important commodity groups imported by Egypt from Germany during the first half of 2024:

1. Electrical and mechanical equipment and their parts worth $628 million.

2. Cars and tractors worth $464 million.

3. Pharmaceutical products worth $206 million.

4. Plastics and their products worth $111 million.

5. Various chemical products worth $61 million.

The value of German investments in Egypt amounted to $196.4 million during the first half of the fiscal year 2023/2024, compared to $199.6 million during the same period of fiscal year 2022/2023, while Egyptian investments in Germany amounted to $97.9 million during the first half of fiscal year 2023/2024, compared to $131.4 million during the same period of fiscal year 2022/2023.

The value of remittances of Egyptians working in Germany amounted to $129.8 million during fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $203.3 million during fiscal year 2021/2022, while the value of remittances of Germans working in Egypt amounted to $15.2 million during fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $9.7 million during fiscal year 2021/2022.

The population of Egypt was recorded at 106.8 million in September 2024, while the population of Germany was recorded at 83.2 million for the same period. 

The number of Egyptians residing in Germany, according to the mission's estimates, reached 128 thousand Egyptians until the end of 2023.
