CAIRO – 11 September 2024: In the first half of 2024, Egyptian exports to Germany surged by 11 percent, hitting $463 million, up from $417 million in the same period last year, as per the recent data by CAPMAS.
Key exports from Egypt to Germany in H1 of 2024 included:
- Vegetables and fruits valued at $93 million
- Electrical and mechanical devices valued at $68 million
- Ready-made clothing valued at $65 million
- Fuel and mineral oils valued at $50 million
- Oilseeds and fruits valued at $25 million
On the other hand, Egyptian imports from Germany reached $2 billion in H1 2024, up from $1.9 billion in H1 2023, marking a 5.3 percent increase.
Major imports from Germany to Egypt in H1 2024 comprised:
- Electrical and mechanical devices worth $628 million
- Cars and tractors worth $464 million
- Pharmaceutical products worth $206 million
- Plastics worth $111 million
The total trade between Egypt and Germany stood at $2.5 billion in H1 2024, up by 4.2 percent from $2.4 billion in H1 2023.
German investments in Egypt amounted to $196.4 million in H1 FY 2023/2024, compared to $199.6 million in H1 FY 2022/2023.
Meanwhile, Egyptian investments in Germany totaled $97.9 million in H1 FY 2023/2024, down from $131.4 million in H1 FY 2022/2023.
