CAIRO – 5 September 2024: Egyptian Consul Baher El Showeikhi visited Wednesday the Egyptian pavilion – comprising 50 firms – at the Asia Fruit Logistica held annually in Hong Kong.
The companies' participation in the fresh vegetable and fruit exhibition, running on September 4-6, was coordinated by the Egyptian Agriculture Export Council (EAC). On his side, the ambassador briefed their representatives on incentives offered by Hong Kong and Macau, and that they can leverage to boost their exports.
Between January and August, Egypt's agricultural exports exceeded 5.6 million tons. The breakdown in terms of crops from the largest quantities to the lowest is: citrus fruits (2,077,386 tons); fresh potato (957,481 tons); onion (236,907 tons); grapes (164,430 tons); beans (156,644 tons); sweet potato (89,710 tons); mango (37,038 tons); tomato (36,876 tons); garlic (21,965 tons); strawberries (21,295 tons); guava (10,427 tons); and pomegranates (9,799 tons).
