Strengthening ties: key collaborative agreements bet. Egypt, Turkey

CAIRO – 4 September 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan oversaw the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering diverse areas of cooperation during El-Sisi’s historic visit to Turkey, marking the first visit by an Egyptian head of state in over a decade. The agreements encompass a wide range of sectors, showcasing the growing collaboration between the two nations.

 A crucial MoU was signed concerning the development of an industrial zone in Sixth of October city. An agreement was reached between the Egyptian Consumer Protection Agency and its Turkish counterpart to enhance cooperation in the field of competition policy.

   Both nations established a MoU to foster collaboration in higher education. An MoU aimed at enhancing cooperation between Egyptian and Turkish railways was signed to boost transportation ties.

Agreements were made between the civil aviation authorities and in sectors like Information Technology, Telecommunications, and Infrastructure for mutual benefit.

   Comprehensive agreements were signed in crucial areas, including Economic, Technical, and Agricultural Cooperation.

Cooperation in the field of health and medical sciences was formalized between Egypt and Turkey.

   An MoU was signed between the Egyptian Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and its Turkish counterpart.

The Egyptian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation joined hands with the Turkish Ministry of Culture for cooperation and capacity building.

 Collaboration agreements were inked between the Ministries of Finance from both nations.

The Ministries of Electricity and Energy from Egypt and Natural Resources from Turkey signed an MoU in the energy sector. MoUs were established between the Ministries of Labor and Employment from both countries.

The Ministries of Environment from Egypt and Turkey signed an MoU to enhance environmental protection efforts. An MoU was signed to bolster urban development initiatives between the two nations.

During the visit, President Erdogan expressed a keen interest in increasing investments in Egypt to $15 billion over the next five years, underscoring the commitment to strengthen economic ties between Egypt and Turkey.
