Egypt's clothing sector has been experiencing a growth 20 percent in exports. President Marie Louis of the Readymade Garment Export Council (RMGEC) reported that from January to July 2024, exports reached $1.55 billion, compared to $1.30 billion recorded during the same period in 2023.
Furthermore, in July 2024 alone, exports surged by approximately 37 percent to $268 million, up from $195 million in July 2023.
Of particular note is the 29 percent increase in exports to European Union countries, which soared to $363 million in the first seven months of 2024 compared to $281 million in 2023.
Export figures to the United States of America also saw substantial growth, with a 12 percent increase to $661 million in the first 7 months of 2024, up from $588 million in 2023.
In the same period, exports of ready-made clothing to Arab countries totaled $291 million, showing a remarkable 31 percent growth from $223 million in 2023.
Notably, exports to African countries excluding Arab nations skyrocketed by an impressive 208 percent, reaching $4.6 million compared to $1.5 million in 2023.
Moreover, exports to Saudi Arabia in the first 7 months of 2024 experienced a notable 77 percent increase, soaring to $93 million from $52 million in the corresponding period in 2023.
