CAIRO – 19 August 2024: In the first seven months of 2024, Egypt's exports reached $24.097 billion, as highlighted by Essam El-Naggar, the Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC).
El-Naggar emphasized the significant role of international exhibitions in boosting Egypt's exports towards the target of $145 billion.
Notably, July saw a 12 percent increase in exports, climbing to $3.146 billion from $2.821 billion in July 2023, marking a $325 million rise.
Concurrently, Egypt's imports for July 2024 totaled around $6.5 billion, up by 4 percent from July 2023's $6.222 billion.
Arab countries led the recipients of Egyptian exports in the first seven months of 2024, accounting for approximately $8.616 billion. Following closely were European Union countries with roughly $5.972 billion, with the United States of America at $1.333 billion and African countries at $1.255 billion. Other countries collectively received exports valued at $5.802 billion.
El-Naggar outlined the top exporting sectors from January to July 2024, starting with building materials at $5.599 billion, then chemical products and fertilizers at $4.509 billion.
The food industries sector followed with $3.669 billion, and engineering and electronic goods at $3.098 billion. Agricultural crops ranked fifth at $3.022 billion, ready-made clothing at $1.563 billion, spinning and textile at $638 million, medical industries at $395 million, and furniture at $357 million.
