Cairo – August 12, 2024: Sitting down with the newly appointed Acting Chairperson of the Accountability State Authority (ASA), Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed the authority’s role and progress enhancing governance and fostering international collaboration.
During the meeting, Madbouly extended his congratulations to chairperson Mohamed El-Faisal on his recent appointment and praised the ASA for its vital role in performance evaluation and government efficiency.
“I am committed to establishing continuous communication and cooperation with the ASA,” Madbouly stated.
The appointments of El-Faisal and Mohamed Abdel Ghani Abdel Razek as the ASA's Acting Vice President were formalized by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi through two decrees issued last week, effective August 7. El-Faisal will serve as the acting president with the rank of minister for one year.
El-Faisal, who previously held the position of ASA’s Deputy Chairperson, outlined the ASA’s recent achievements during the meeting.
He highlighted the ASA’s leadership of the General State Investment Governance Committee, which is tasked with improving governance and investment efficiency. This committee is responsible for monitoring public investments, ensuring they remain within the one trillion-pound ceiling for FY2024/2025, and advising on investment priorities.
The chairman also discussed the ASA’s preparations to host the upcoming Executive Board meeting of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), which aims to bolster Egypt’s international standing in auditing.
The Central Auditing Organization, which recently took over the chairmanship of INTOSAI’s working group on information technology auditing, will also be involved.
El-Faisal noted that the ASA recently chaired the Board of External Auditors of the African Union and participated in the fifty-ninth meeting of the Executive Board of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions of Africa (AFROSAI) held in Yaoundé, Cameroon in February.
