Cairo – July 29, 2024: In a recent report by Umlaut, part of global professional services company Accenture, Egypt’s top network providers were put to the test to see who would come out as the “Best in Test” in broadband and mobile network quality and services.

Umlaut, globally recognized for its benchmarking reports which are considered as a de-facto industry standard, covered all of Egypt’s 4 network providers – Telecom Egypt, Vodafone, Orange, and E& (a rebranded Etisalat Egypt) - and assessed the networks on factors such as speed, latency, and consumer experience.

On fixed broadband services, Vodafone Egypt took the lead with a score of 404 out of 1000, beating out Orange Egypt’s score of 247. Telecom Egypt took 3rd place with a close 243, followed by Etisalat with 204.

The top network beat out its competitors in terms of latency, receiving a 164-score out of 250 compared to Orange’s 29.

Telecom Egypt registered the highest active download speed with a score of 129, while Orange led the list on passive download speed (81) as well as being the most stable network (44).

Vodafone Egypt grabbed 1st place in Umlaut’s mobile network benchmarking survey with a strong score of 708 out of 1000.

Orange took 2nd with a total score of 644, followed by E& with a score of 628.

“The operator WE is not included in the report, as the number of samples for WE is not meeting umlaut minimum criteria. The score of WE ranges between 629 and 641 with 95% statistical confidence,” the report explained.

Vodafone dominated the overall ranking, leading in the categories of broadband coverage (335 score out of 400), download speed (157 out of 225), and stability (46 out of 55).

Orange ranked in 2nd for both broadband coverage (332) and download speed (143).

Globally, Dutch telecommunications company KPN was ranked the 1st in the world with a total score of 987, followed by Swisscom with 981 and fellow Dutch company Odido with 978.
