CAIRO - 24 July 2024: In a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing the transportation of vital goods, particularly wheat, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, engaged in discussions with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Sherif Farouk.

Their meeting focused on advancing combined endeavors to streamline the movement of essential commodities from storage facilities to commercial points in significant quantities.

This joint endeavor is poised to directly influence the pricing of consumer goods, ultimately leading to reduced costs for the populace of Egypt.

Deliberations between the two officials centered on various solutions, including the deployment of trucks from transport firms associated with the Ministry of Transport. The emphasis was specifically placed on optimizing the transportation of wheat and key products through railway and river networks.

El-Wazir outlined an extensive strategy to establish 31 dry ports and logistics centers throughout Egypt. This initiative aims to prevent the congestion of goods and containers at seaports, enhance the quality of logistical services offered, and mitigate the high expenses linked to transporting goods.

Moreover, he underscored the Ministry of Transport's ambitious project to create seven comprehensive international development logistical corridors. These corridors are intricately designed to seamlessly link diverse production hubs encompassing industrial, agricultural, mining, and service sectors to seaports via efficient and secure transportation methods.

The proposed corridors will traverse through dry ports and integrated logistics zones, ensuring the smooth and effective movement of goods, thereby fostering enhanced connectivity and economic efficiency.
