CAIRO - 24 July 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi convened a high-profile gathering alongside Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Essmat, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi. The purpose was to review the government's progress on key energy sector matters.
 
Central to the discussions was the swift execution of strategies aimed at alleviating electricity burdens, particularly during the demanding summer months.
 
The official spokesperson for the Presidency highlighted that El-Sisi was briefed on the government’s effort to stabilize electricity provision and curtail losses.
 
During the meeting, the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Electricity and Petroleum outlined their joint efforts to address the pressing requirements of the electricity sector, particularly regarding petroleum-based resources.
 
The meeting also encompassed the government's strategies to amplify investments in the energy domain, accelerate oil and gas extraction, and optimize technological applications to diminish import expenses.
 
President El-Sisi underscored the imperative of ramping up initiatives to implement renewable energy ventures, such as solar and wind power, to augment the capacities of the power grid.
 
El-Sisi issued directives to bolster cooperation among ministries and state bodies to ensure a seamless provision of electricity services, underscoring the significance of collaborative efforts in this regard.
