Egyptian-Indian Business Council to bolster Indian investment in Egypt by $5B

CAIRO – 23 July 2024: The Egyptian-Indian Business Council has introduced an investment initiative for 2027. The objective of this initiative is to boost Indian investment in Egypt to reach $5 billion, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
 
Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, held a meeting with the members of the council where they discussed various matters.
 
During the meeting, the council members examined the frequency of official delegations visiting Egypt and India, which has led to an increase in trade between the two countries.
 
 They also highlighted the presence of Indian companies in Egypt, particularly in sectors such as chemical industries and plastic waste recycling.
 
Furthermore, the council members expressed the interest of several Indian companies to enter the Egyptian market across various vital fields including new energy, green hydrogen, engineering industries, communications, and information technology.
 
As of 2023, the total value of Indian investments in Egypt amounted to $3.2 billion. These investments are spread across 52 projects spanning diverse sectors such as food industries, chemicals, and tourism.
