CAIRO – 18 July 2024: In a meeting between Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, and the Norwegian Ambassador to Cairo, Hilde Klemetsdal, they discussed various aspects related to the green hydrogen production project and ways to strengthen cooperation in energy transition and green energy initiatives.
 
During their discussion, Minister Badawi expressed his appreciation for the remarkable expertise of Norwegian companies in energy transition technologies, green hydrogen production, and carbon reduction. 
 
He highlighted the support extended by the petroleum sector in implementing green projects, capitalizing on the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Norway, as well as the abundant opportunities for mutual success and benefits.
 
The Minister emphasized the importance of addressing current challenges comprehensively, with the goal of increasing production, bridging gaps, and transitioning towards a green economy. 
 
These efforts are expected to attract investments and provide resources for value-added industries.
Badawi underscored the commitment of the petroleum sector to align with the Egyptian government's vision for green economy projects. This commitment includes ongoing initiatives to enhance energy consumption efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
 
The Norwegian Ambassador acknowledged Egypt's capabilities in this field and commended the significant expertise offered by Scatec Company.
