CAIRO - 10 July 2024: The Egyptian government is seeking to diversify the energy mix through a set of policies.

The policies aim at achieving optimal exploitation of Egypt's natural resources of traditional energy in addition to renewable and clean energies.

In the below lines are eight policies that Egypt adopts to reach diversity in its energy mix:

1- Completing the update of Egypt's energy strategy up to the year 2040.

2- Working towards raising the percentage of renewable energy's participation in the energy mix to about (18.6 percent) in 2026/2027, according to the update of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) in June 2023.

3- Promoting rational and sustainable management of the sector and bringing performance indicators to global levels.

4- Increasing the production capacities of low-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives for the purpose of export, while maximizing its use locally in all sectors, especially industry and transportation.

5- Completing the nuclear project in Egypt, and placing this industry as well as the strategic technology associated with it, into the plan aimed at diversifying clean and sustainable energy sources.

6-Focusing on increasing the production of natural gas to enhance reliance on clean energy sources. Developing and modernizing the infrastructure of natural gas transmission and distribution networks to ensure efficient and safe operation.
