Cairo – July 4, 2024: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) recently revealed that Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries production index slipped in April, declining by 12.61 percent to reach 95.54 during April 2024 (preliminary) compared to 109.33 in March 2024 (final).

The index does not include crude oil and petroleum products.

Egypt’s furniture industry production index rose by 9.27 percent to an initial recording of 147.08 in April, according to CAPMAS data.

The beverage industry index was recording at 395.24, a jump of 12.07 percent compared to March’s 352.76.

CAPMAS also revealed that the food product industry’s index reached 123.72, declining 19.04 percent from March’s 152.81, which the statistics agency attributed to a shortage in raw materials required.

The index for the pharmaceutical, chemical and medicinal preparations industry reached 78.27 during the month of April compared to the month of March 2024, where it reached 92.22, a decrease of 15.13 percent, also due to the unavailability of the raw materials needed.
