Egyptian exports to U.S. grow by 34.5% in Q1 of 2024

CAIRO – 17 June 2024: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics released a report Monday indicating that Egyptian exports to the United States grew by 34.5 percent in the first quarter of 2024, recording $585.8 million, compared to the same period last year.

 

Garments topped the list with $168.9 million achieving a 9.2-percent growth. Yet, the growth occurred the most in the exports of fruits and vegetables hitting $23.4 million with a 26.1-percent growth. Further, exports of each of steel and iron, and carpets increased by 18.4 percent to record $59.6 million and $29.7 million, respectively.

 

In 2023, Egyptian exports to the United States declined by 15.5 percent recording $1.9 billion down from $2.3 billion in 2022. The top exports were also garments with $1 billion dropping by 21.7 percent.

 

On the other hand, Egyptian imports from the United States also fell by 22.7 percent to $5.4 billion with grains, oil and medicinal plants topping the list. Yet, their value dropped by 66.4 percent to record $800 million.
