CAIRO - 23 May 2024: CEO of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), Basil Rahmy, welcomed a high-level delegation from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to bolster the capabilities of industrial projects in Egypt.

The collaboration seeks to enhance the productivity of Egyptian projects, enabling them to compete in foreign markets and meet local demands.

Rahmy highlighted the agency’s joint initiative with JICA, which will span two years.

The primary focus is on enhancing the competitiveness of medium and small enterprises operating in the plastics industry within Alexandria’s industrial complex.

Additionally, the project aims to provide support to the food manufacturing sector in Minya.
The completion of the first phase was announced by the CEO of the Enterprise Development Agency.

This phase involved assessing the needs of 20 projects, a process that lasted 45 days and included visits organized by the agency’s project team in collaboration with Japanese experts.

MSMEDA is actively seeking to establish partnerships and exchange experiences with international development partners to support medium and small enterprises, as mentioned by the CEO.

This cooperation is expected to reduce imports, decrease spending on foreign currency, and boost exports, thus contributing to the overall economic growth of Egypt.
