Egyptian, Tunisian Ministers of Planning talk ways of cooperation in economic development
CAIRO - 23 May 2024: Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, met with Dr. Ferial Al-Warghi, wife of Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning of the Republic Feryel Ouerghi Sebai to discuss ways to strengthen relations in the fields of planning, economic development and investment.
During the meeting, Hala Al-Saeed reviewed the role of the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, its mechanism of operation, and the investment opportunities provided by the Fund.
Al-Saeed also touched on the Ministry’s work areas related to raising the efficiency of public investment, preparing visions and plans, and the plan and financing programs related to Egypt’s Vision 2030, as well as the Ministry’s role in implementing building programs.
Al-Saeed praised the distinguished Egyptian-Tunisian relations, which are characterized by strength and durability, as communication between Egypt and Tunisia extends to historical roots at all levels, especially in the economic and cultural field, in addition to the presence of many commonalities between the two sister countries, noting that the common relations between the two brotherly countries have witnessed remarkable development and coordination in many files over the past years.
The meeting touched on cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the Arab-African Trade Bridges Programme, as Dr. Hala Al-Saeed is expected to hand over the presidency of the program to the Minister of Economy and Planning in Tunisia during the program meetings next July, where Al-Saeed confirmed the aspiration that the program will contribute during the term of the Minister’s presidency.
The Tunisian Council of Governors called on its Board of Governors for more serious and fruitful work towards encouraging and developing trade and investment flows between Arab and African countries, developing the business sector, enhancing the capacity of current exporters and creating a generation of new exporters, especially in the program’s partner member states, as well as developing new export products in current markets, in addition to opening new markets in Africa, by creating new partnerships between the Arab and African regions, and maximizing the benefit of the promising economic opportunities available in this field.
