CAIRO – 14 May 2024: Egyptian Ambassador to Athens Omar Amer met with Greek Minister of Maritime Affairs Christos Stylianides to discuss cooperation on shipping and linkage between the seaports of both countries to enhance the movement of people and goods.
A memorandum of understanding will be signed later this month to launch sea freight between the ports of Alexandria and Volos during the first session of the Egyptian-Greek Marine Committee.
The ambassador invited the minister to attend the investment promotion conference to be held in Cairo on June 29 and 30.
Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir stated in October that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Greece had risen by 21 percent in 2022, recording around €2.56 billion.
Greece holds the 11th position among European Union countries contributing to Egypt's economy. As of the end of April 2023, Greek investments in Egypt reached $255 million, spread across 215 projects dispersed among various sectors including finance, manufacturing, services, construction, tourism, agriculture, communications, and information technology.
