CAIRO – 30 April 2024: The value of Kuwaiti investments in Egypt hit $15 billion, while that of Egyptian investments amounted to $1.1 billion; in addition, trade exchange between the two countries is worth $3 billion per annum.
Kuwait is the third largest Arab trade partner to Egypt after the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also ranks fifth among states investing in Egypt on the global level.
The number of Kuwaiti companies operating in Egypt recorded 1,337 in 2021. The Kuwaiti private sector is investing $10 billion in the sectors of tourism, financing, manufacturing, real estate, agriculture, ICT, and services.
There are 1,305 joint investments worth $4.27 billion. The finance and oil sectors compose 39.7 percent and 19.7 percent of those, respectively. As for Kuwaiti investments in Egypt, 10.8 percent are in the industrial sector, while the rest are distributed among the agricultural and retail sectors.
