Finance min. says social protection budget increased to EGP 635.9 bn in FY 2024/25

CAIRO – 11 April 2024: Finance Minister Mohamed Maait announced that the budge allotted to the social protection programs increased to EGP 635.9 billion in the fiscal year 2024/2025, up from EGP 529.7 billion in the fiscal year 2023/2024, with an annual increase of 20%.

The move reflects the State's commitment to supporting low-and middle-income families, especially in light of the ongoing economic reforms made by the State, Maait added in a statement released on Thursday.

The minister stated the government is working to ease burden on citizens amid the negative impacts of successive regional and global crises, through expanding the social protection programs for the most vulnerable families as part of overall efforts to improve standards of living.
