CAIRO - 8 April 2024: Egypt’s annual core inflation rate recorded 33.7 percent in March 2024, compared to 35.1 percent in February 2024, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The CBE revealed that the monthly core Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Egypt recorded 1.4 percent in March 2024 compared to 2.5 percent in the same month of the previous year and to 13.2 percent in February 2024.
Core inflation discounts or strips out certain categories that are considered more volatile.
According to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), Egypt's annual urban consumer price inflation rate witnessed a decline to 33.1 percent in March, as compared to 36 percent in February.
Egypt's general consumer price index (CPI) reached 221.6 points in March 2024, with the monthly inflation rate standing at 1 percent during the same period, in contrast to 11 percent in February 2024.
