Egypt to realese goods worth $6B from ports

CAIRO – 7 March 2024: The total value of goods released from Egypt's ports surpassed $12 billion since the start of January 2024 until the present time, the Head of the Customs Authority, Shahat Ghatouri stated during his tour today at Alexandria Port, to follow up on releasing goods and merchandise at various ports.
 
In an interview with Ashraq Bloomberg, Ghatouri stated that the value of goods accumulated in Egyptian ports currently amounts to about 6 billion dollars, including petroleum products.
 
Ghatouri also stressed that the rates of customs release and production requirements will continue to rise in the coming days, in coordination with the banking sector.
 
During a recent press conference at Alexandria Port, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reassured the public that the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) would have the capacity to meet future dollar demands. This assurance aimed to alleviate concerns and restore confidence in the Egyptian economy.
 
Madbouly highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring foreign currency availability, with priority given to essential sectors such as food, medicine, fodder, petroleum products, raw materials, and production requirements for the industry.
 
As part of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly embarked on a special tour this morning to oversee the release of goods from Alexandria Port. The tour included monitoring the progress of multiple release processes from various Egyptian ports.
 
The released goods encompass a range of commodities, including food, feed, medicines, and production requirements.
