CAIRO - 6 March 2024: The Cabinet approved on Wednesday the restructuring of the National Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management and Risk Reduction.
The committee aims to build and enhance a national system for crisis and disaster management, as well as risk reduction, based on a comprehensive institutional framework. This initiative ultimately leads to the establishment of a specialized national entity in this regard, according to a statement released by the Cabinet.
The National Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management and Risk Reduction specializes in activating the national institutional framework that aligns with the requirements of the international strategy for disaster risk reduction. To achieve this, it will formulate policies and national frameworks related to crisis and disaster management and risk reduction at the national level.
The committee will develop mechanisms to integrate climate-related hazard reduction currently and future climate change into disaster risk reduction programs and adaptation plans. It ensures the consideration of risk management associated with natural disasters in these programs and plans.
