CAIRO - 12 January 2024: Nova Industries Company - one of the companies affiliated with the Start Initiative - has signed a cooperation protocol with several major international companies to deepen local manufacturing of water and sanitation station components.
The protocol was signed by Ahmed Kamal, Chairman of the Board of Nova Industries, Massimiliano Lagreca, Chairman of the Board of Technofanghi Italian Company, and the CEOs of Parkson American Company, and the German companies MUHR and OTT.
The signing ceremony was attended by Assem El Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and Amany Eid, CEO of Edba “Start” for Project Development.
CEO of Ebda for Project Development, Amany Eid, emphasized that this collaboration is part of the efforts of the "Start" initiative to increase industrial investments and localize modern industries.
Nova is the first factory of its kind in the Middle East and Africa that produces components for sewage and water treatment stations according to global standards, with a production capacity of approximately 1500 tons of stainless steel products annually, She added, noting that this reduces the Egyptian import bill by about $100 million in the first year. The factory is currently in the trial operation phase.
Minister of Housing, Assem El Gazzar, highlighted that the Egyptian industry has a golden opportunity to compete strongly in producing supplies for drinking water and sewage projects, localize these industries in Egypt, and provide opportunities for Egyptian cadres to gain international experience in this field. This is especially crucial given the significant development in the water and sewage sector, particularly the presidential initiative "Decent Life" to develop the Egyptian countryside.
The Minister of Housing also assured that the state, represented by the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and its entities in the water and sewage facilities sector, provides all support and encouragement to national industries, urging national companies to start actual manufacturing and operationalize production lines to accelerate project implementation rates.
