CAIRO - 28 November 2023: Trade and investment deals signed during the third edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair, IATF2023, were worth $43.7 billion, according to Kanayo Awani, the Executive Vice President of the Intra-African Trade Bank, Afreximbank.
Awani mentioned during a post-event press conference that the number of visitors to the fair, whether in person or virtual, reached 28,282, with the number of exhibitors totaling 1,939.
She stated that the overall participating countries numbered 130.
Country pavilions and exhibition stands represented 45 African countries, of which 42 had pavilions, and 16 non-African countries were represented, making a total of 61 countries, according to Awani.
The IATF2023 took place from November 9th - 15th in Egypt under the theme: “The AfCFTA Marketplace''. It was organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) Secretariat.
The IATF2023 provided a platform for businesses to access an integrated African market of over 1.3 billion people with a GDP of over $3.5 trillion created under the African Continental Free Trade Area, according to the African Union.
