Cairo – November 19, 2023: Prime Minister Madbouly, along with Minister of Information Technology and Communications (MCIT) Amr Talaat, toured six companies within the fields of information technology, engineering research and development services, and outsourcing services.
This comes on the heels of the PM’s inspections of several factories in 10th of Ramadan City and Obour City on Saturday.
Madbouly and Talaat visited Saudi company Gediea’s operational support services center, the shared services center of PepsiCo, Siemens, PWC Egypt’s Technology and Innovation Centre (ETIC), Amazon’s customer service center, and Capgemini’s new headquarters on Sunday.
The prime minister stressed that these visits, following his October tour in Smart Village, shares a message to Egyptian youth about the IT sector's limitless potential for growth.
At Siemens’ Cairo headquarters, the PM and MCIT minister heard from Hazem El Tahawy, Simens’ Vice President for Middle East & North Africa, who shared that the company currently employs over 1000 in its local HQ.
The company’s Research and Development Center achieved an average annual employment growth rate of 20 percent, he added, noting that it has encouraged employees to file more than 47 patents and publish around 560 research papers in renowned IEEE journals.
Geidea representatives shared that it employs over 1,200 people in its center, with a focus on empowering women in technology, noting that around 67 percent of the company’s employees are female. Since its entry into the Egyptian market in 2022, the Saudi company’s investments reached more than $40 million with the volume of business tripling in size over the past year, explained an official cabinet statement.
Launched in May with investments of $25 million, PWC’s ETIC aims to export digital services worth $300 million over the next 3 years and looks to create over 5,000 job opportunities by 2026.
As he toured with the PM, MCIT Minister Talaat highlighted Egypt's attractiveness for centers of value-added services, attracting major consulting firms due to innovation, research and development to benefit from a skilled workforce, particularly in automotive software, electronic circuits design, and semiconductors.
During his presentation, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of PepsiCo North Africa, Mohamed Shelbaya stated that the company’s share service center, which provides services in a wide range of languages, is set to have over 460 employees in 7 sectors by year-end.
Amazon's New Cairo customer service center is the company’s largest in the region, creating over 1,600 jobs, according to GM of Amazon.eg Omar Elsahy. PM Madbouly and his entourage engaged with the company’s employees, including those with special needs, to learn more about Amazon Egypt’s working environment.
Madbouly inaugurated Capgemini’s new Cairo Headquarters during his inspections on Monday, which currently employes around 1,600 people. CEO Aiman Ezzat explained that the company aims to employ over 3,000 specialists in partnership with the Egyptian government by 2026.
