CAIRO - 2 October 2023: During the "Hekayet Watan" (Story of a Homeland) conference held in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, President Abdelfattah El-Sisi announced that the government has been directed to expedite the implementation of projects aimed at developing Alexandria port, along with other ports, rail networks, and roadways.
The goal is to complete these ambitious infrastructure projects by 2025, rather than the previously anticipated deadline of 2030.
President El-Sisi emphasized the country's determination to achieve timely completion, stating, "We are aiming to complete the development of the port of Alexandria and other ports, as well as the projects to develop railways and roads in 2025, not 2030."
The "Hekayet Watan" conference serves as a platform to showcase Egypt's remarkable progress across various sectors and highlight its vision and achievements.
The event provides an opportunity to shed light on the country's commitment to modernizing its infrastructure and transforming into a major global hub for transport and logistics.
Kamel El-Wazir, the Minister of Transport, outlined the ministry's comprehensive plan to modernize transportation elements across multiple sectors.
To fund this, the budget allocation has witnessed significant growth, increasing from 2 trillion Egyptian pounds to an expected 3 trillion by 2023. This substantial financial commitment reflects the government's determination to prioritize and invest in the development of Egypt's transportation and road infrastructure.
