CAIRO - 21 September 2023: Production index of transformative and extraction industries (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) recorded a growth of 1.38 percent in July 2023.
According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, in a statement issued on Thursday, the index of manufacturing and extraction industries (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) reached 103.16 points in July 2023, compared to 101.76 points in June 2023, with an increase of 1.38 percent.
Food product manufacturing was the most growing industrial activity, reaching 124.45 points in July 2023 compared to June 2023, with a growth of 112.44 points, with an increase of 10.68 percent according to market needs.
The index for the pharmaceutical, chemical, and pharmaceutical preparations industry reached 99.32 points in July 2023 compared to June 2023, where it reached 95.70 points, marking an increase of 3.78 percent according to market needs.
The electrical appliances industry topped the list of economic activities with the largest decrease, reaching 126.03 in July 2023 compared to June 2023, where it reached 138.69, with a decrease of 9.13 percent due to import suspension.
The furniture industry also reached 135.38 in July 2023 compared to June 2023, where it reached 173.67 points, marking a decrease of 22 percent according to supply and demand conditions.
