Egypt, Russia discuss trade cooperation opportunities

CAIRO – 28 August 2023: The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce had a meeting with a Russian trade delegation to discuss means of cooperation with Egypt.

Vice President of the Alexandria Chamber Ahmed Hassan highlighted in his speech the importance of reinforcing cooperation between Egypt and Russia in several sectors, and the necessity of boosting the trade exchange between Egypt and Russia.

“The Egyptian-Russian Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement helps in boosting the cooperation between the two countries on the levels of economy, tourism, and politics,” Hassan added.

The meeting was attended by Karen Vasilian, the consul general of the Russian Federation in Alexandria; a chamber of commerce and industry delegation of Krasnodar Krai; the Russian trading office in Egypt; and some Russian companies. Ahmed Hassan, vice president of the Alexandria Chamber, and members of the Board of Directors welcomed them.

Russian Consul in Alexandria Karin Vassilian stressed the strength of relations between Egypt and Russia, adding that the meeting aimed to explore means of collaboration between Egyptian and Russian companies in many sectors, most importantly the food, power, mining, medical installations, meat and poultry, cotton and paper farms sectors.  

He further revealed that many agreements and partnerships are being implemented to support and strengthen relations with Egypt, and attract the Russian private sector to enter the Egyptian market.

During the meeting, joint bilateral meetings were held between Egyptian and Russian companies to explore mechanisms of cooperation between the Egyptians and Russians in several fields.
