CAIRO - 26 August 2023: An official source at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy revealed that the ministry is about to complete the construction of the Gulf of Suez wind station with a capacity of 250 megawatts by the end of next December. 
 
The construction of the Gulf of Suez wind station, which is owned by the New and Renewable Energy Authority, comes within the framework of the state’s plan to diversify energy sources and expand renewable energy projects.
 
The source explained that the new station has an investment cost of about $280 million, explaining that there are projects owned by the Renewable Energy Authority and others owned by investors.
 
The source said that the authority is also implementing a solar cell project with a capacity of 50 megawatts in the Zaafarana area, Suez Governorate, with investments amounting to 38 million euros.
 
The source confirmed that a new solar power station in Kom Ombo with a capacity of 250 megawatts is scheduled to operate next January, in cooperation with the private sector, and linking it to the national electricity grid.
