CAIRO – 20 August 2023: Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Amr Talaat met with Indian Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, to explore ways to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and India in the ICT field.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of Talaat's visit to India, to participate in the G20 Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting (DEMM).
The ministers discussed ways to implement the memorandum of understanding (MoU) they signed earlier in January, and investigated means to cooperate in the electronics industry and digital capacity building by establishing partnerships between the training institutions affiliated with both ministries.
During the meeting, they also discussed collaboration in digital infrastructure to support digital transformation and digital payments.
Talaat also held a meeting with the representatives of the global broadband, optical, and wireless networking company Tejas Networks to discuss potential collaboration between the networks company and the academic institutions affiliated with MCIT in technical training and capacity building in installing, operating, and supporting telecom networks.
During his participation in the G20 DEMM, Talaat met with Saudi’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha to discuss cooperation in the fields of communications infrastructure and submarine cables.
He also held discussions for enhancing cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and data governance with UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Omar Al-Olama.
