CAIRO - 7 August 2023: Trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan hiked 7.1 percent during 2022, reaching $980.4 million, compared to $915.8 million during 2021, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
 
The CAPMAS noted that Egypt’s exports to Jordan rose 24 percent during 2022, reaching $726.5 million during 2022, compared to $711.1 million during 2021.
 
It revealed that the Egyptian imports from Jordan amounted to $253.9 million during 2022, compared to $204.7 million during 2021, with an increase of 2.2 percent.
 
The top 10 commodity groups exported from Egypt to Jordan during the year 2022 were as follows: mineral fuels and oils, and their distillation products with a value of $157.3 million, electrical machinery and equipment with a value of $55 million, vegetables with a value of $41.7 million, vegetables and plants with a value of $37.2 million, ceramic products with a value of $34.4 million, animal and vegetable fats, oils with a value of $34.3 million, dairy products with a value of $32.4 million, fruits with a value of $31.7 million, non-organic chemical products with a value of $30.1 million, and iron and steel products with a value of $26.1 million.
 
Regarding the top 10 commodity groups imported by Egypt from Jordan during 2022, fertilizers ranked first with a value of $143.4 million, followed by pharmaceutical products with a value of $24.3 million, aluminum and its products with a value of $12.7 million, plastics and their products with a value of $11.9 million, miscellaneous chemical products with a value of $6.8 million, organic chemical products with a value of $6 million, boilers, machinery, and mechanical appliances with a value of $5.7 million, prepared animal fodder with a value of $5.4 million, non-organic chemical products with a value of $4.7 million, and fruits with a value of $4.1 million.
 
The value of Jordanian investments in Egypt amounted to $29.2 million during the first half of the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $13.1 million during the same period of the fiscal year 2021/2022, with a growth rate of 122.9 percent.
 
Remittances from Egyptians working in Jordan reached $792.9 million during the fiscal year 2021/2022, compared to $774.2 million during the fiscal year 2020/2021, with an increase of 2.4 percent, while the value of remittances from Jordanians working in Egypt reached $9.6 million during the fiscal year 2021/2022, compared to $12.3 million during the fiscal year 2020/2021, with a decrease of 21.8 percent.
