CAIRO – 13 July 2023: The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) announced Thursday accepting entries - for a month - for the second edition of the Sustainable Development Excellence Award, as well as the winners at the first edition.
Those are in order Unilever Mashreq, Vodafone Egypt, and Nestle Egypt. The authority also honored 12 companies for their endeavors in the realms of sustainable development and social responsibility.
Investment law designates the CSR fields as environment protection, healthcare, social care, culture, technical education, vocational training, and scientific education. It provides making an annual list of the top companies carrying out such activities, and granting them tax and non-tax incentives.
GAFI Chairman Hossam Heiba pointed out that the authority has a unit whose mission is continuous communication with companies to measure their role in developing society, and incentivizing them to carry on.
The winning companies mainly delivered services pertaining to the introduction of the Universal Healthcare Insurance System, provision of healthy food to children, women empowerment, waste recycling, environmental sustainability, and combating climate change.
