The Computer Emergency Response Center for the Financial Sector (EG-FinCIRT) at the Central Bank of Egypt has obtained accreditation and membership in the Global Forum for Security Incident Response Teams (FIRST), making the center Egypt's first sectoral center of its kind.
EG-FinCIRT's achievement is in line with the Central Bank's strategic focus on strengthening cyber security within the financial and banking sector.
Membership in the FIRST Forum brings several benefits by fostering cooperation and coordination in preventing and mitigating cyber security incidents, as well as facilitating the exchange of information among members and promoting more effective handling of cyber incidents.
Additionally, EG-FinCIRT's participation in the forum enhances its technical capabilities by providing exposure to the latest global practices in the field, and instant sharing of security information related to cyber incidents empowers members to combat attacks and security threats proactively.
The FIRST Forum serves as a platform for fostering cooperation and strategic partnerships between countries and global institutions. Members gain access to resources such as the annual global cybersecurity incident response conference, which offers insights into the latest approaches and publications on cybersecurity and web services.
These all align with the Central Bank of Egypt's overarching strategy to actively involve EG-FinCIRT in the implementation of the national cybersecurity strategy and contributes to raising the overall information security quality index (Global Cyber Security Index) for Egypt.
