CAIRO, 03 May 2023: Samcrete and Al Kharafi & Sons were awarded contracts under the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development-backed (EBRD)’s Fayoum Wastewater Expansion Program.
Samcrete, an Egyptian engineering, construction and development group, was awarded two contracts valued at €36.6 million to build new sewage networks and pump stations in Fayoum. Both of Samcrete’s contracts entail the construction of sewage networks and pump stations.
Samcrete’s first contract is valued at €21.1 million and will end in October 2024 and the second one is valued at €15.4 and will end in December 2024.
Al Kharafi and sons will design and build a new wastewater treatment plant with a 35k cbm/d capacity in a contract valued at €23.9 million. The project is expected to finish by the end of April 2025.
Last month, The Sovereign Fund of Egypt announced the qualification of 17 alliances in the competition to execute seawater desalination projects that will be offered to the private sector. The projects will operate using renewable energy sources in several parts of Egypt.
