CAIRO - 27 February 2023: Trade exchange between Egypt and Qatar hiked 76.2 percent to reach $80.1 million during the first 11 months of 2022, compared to $45.5 million during the same period in 2021, according to the state-statistic body.
The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that the Egyptian exports to Qatar recorded $19.7 million during the first 11 months of 2022, compared to $3.5 million during the same period in 2021, marking an increase of 458.3 percent.
On the other hand, the Egyptian imports from Qatar amounted to $60.4 million, compared to $42 million, with an increase of 44.1 percent.
Regarding the most important commodity groups that Egypt exported to Qatar during the first 11 months of 2022, plastics and their products came first with a value of $4.9 million, followed by ready-made furniture and facilities with a value of $3.4 million, then machinery, appliances and electrical equipment with a value of $2.8 million, and manufactured goods. of iron or steel with a value of $2 million, in addition to glass and articles thereof with a value of $1.6 million.
As for the most important commodity groups that Egypt imported from Qatar during the first 11 months of 2022, they were iron and steel with a value of $20.5 million, plastics and their manufactures with a value of $20.4 million, then various chemical products with a value of $5 million, and organic chemical products with a value of $4.7 million, in addition to boilers, machinery and automatic devices with a value of $3.7 million.
Qatari investments in Egypt increased 2 percent to $518.3 million during the fiscal year 2021/2022, compared to $507.9 million during the fiscal year 2020/2021.
Furthermore, remittances of Egyptian expatriates in Qatar recorded $1.5 billion during the fiscal year 2020/2021, compared to $1.3 billion during the fiscal year 2019/2020, with an increase of 14.3 percent.
The remittances from Qatari expatriates in Egypt dipped 34 percent, amounting to $1.8 million during the fiscal year 2020/2021, compared to $2.8 million during the fiscal year 2019/2020.
