Egypt, India cooperate on capacity-building within 'SolarX Grand Challenge'

CAIRO – 22 February 2023: Chairman of the General Authority for Free Zones and Investment (GAFI) Hossam Heiba met Wednesday with Manager of Invest India Aprajita Saini to discuss the delivery of capacity-building to Egyptian firms operating in the solar energy sector.

The cooperation comes within the 'SolarX Grand Challenge' launched by the International Solar Alliance (ISA) during COP 27 to promote African entrepreneurship in the field. To implement the initiative, the ISA had partnered up with the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), which is currently chaired by Invest India.

The program will also include a competition whereas a committee would select the top performing 20 firms, awarding each $15,000. In addition, workshops will be delivered by the AUC Venture Lab.
