Nasr inspects €91.5M sewage treatment plant in Alexandria

CAIRO – 17 July 2017: The minister of investment, Sahar Nasr, visited the waste water treatment project in Al Ameriya of Alexandria which was financed by the German Development Bank at a value of €91.5 million, a Monday statement said.

The project’s production capacity amounts to 100,000 square meters per day and serves more than 600,000 people. The treatment plant was finished and first operated in 2016.

During her visit to Alexandria that started on Sunday, Nasr noted that the ministry is working on solving the problems of the defaulter companies and the Industrial Drainage, in addition to offering all needed services to the investors.

Nasr highlighted that the ministry givers due concern to the investments that require a high rate of labor to fight unemployment, adding that foreign firms have to train the Egyptian labor in the new projects.

Oil and transportation fields are the most promising in Egypt regarding the investment opportunities in the coming period, the minister noted.

Moreover, Nasr inspected Nile Linen factory in Alexandria’s free zone of which investments amount to $77 million and employs 1,123 Egyptian workers. The plant exports 100 percent of its annual production volume.

Nasr discussed on Sunday expanding Alexandria’s free zone and increasing investment opportunities available in it.

In a visit to the Alexandria governorate, the minister reviewed the 406 development projects in the free zone, at total capitals of $3.5 billion and investments of $9.9 billion. The projects offer 421,000 job vacancies.
