CAIRO - 24 December 2022: The electricity sector in Egypt is keen to support the transmission network in various efforts to improve network efficiency and reduce losses, revealed Spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Ayman Hamza.
Hamza added that the sector aims to be able to transmit sustainable electric energy from all sources of production to all customers in accordance with international standards.
Hamza explained that the plans implemented by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company to develop the network aim to implement the energy strategy 2035 and to be able to reach the percentage of renewable energies participating in the network to 42%.
He further highlighted that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company succeeded during the year 2022 in implementing what it has planned at a rate of about 62%, as the investments spent during the year amounted to about 12.307 billion pounds.
Hamza explained that the Ministry of Electricity is keen to pay attention to raising the efficiency of human cadres and training on the latest international technologies and modern expertise in the fields of electricity and energy, in addition to transferring these experiences regionally and in Africa.
Hamza pointed out that electricity transmission and distribution networks have been strengthened and developed to accommodate the large capacities that are added from new and renewable sources and benefit through the implementation of several projects in the field of overhead lines and transformer stations on high and high voltages at the level of the Republic.
Hamza pointed out that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company aims to reduce the loss rate in the national electricity network to improve the level of service provided to the citizen, both at the level of high and high voltage networks through a number of measures that led to improving and reducing the loss rate, as the loss rate during the current year reached 3.66. % compared to 3.83% during the previous fiscal year.
