CAIRO – 12 December 2022: Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, and Zambian Minister of Technology and Science Felix Mutati signed Monday an MoU on cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, courier services, institutional capacity-building, human resource skill development, artificial intelligence, e-learning, digital inclusion, and international infrastructure.
The two ministers also held talks on executive mechanisms, where Minister Talaat offered training Zambian youth at the Information Technology Institute, and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), as well as providing scholarships to Zambian students to study at one of technology universities.
On his side, Minister Mutati invited his Egyptian counterpart to visit Zambia to further discuss collaboration, and examine ways of extending such cooperation to other Central African countries.
In March, the Egyptian minister of agriculture, and the Zambian ambassador to Cairo probed ways of enhancing cooperation, as Egypt already operates two farms in Zambia but aims for entering the fields of fish farming, livestock, pourtly, and modern irrigation systems.
Egypt’s exports to Zambia reached $15 million in 2020, according to Head of the Egyptian Commercial Office in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, Mohamed Abdullah.
Egyptian Ambassador to Zambia Moataz Anwar delivered in September 2021 medical aid to Zambian Minister of Health Silvia Masebo in the capital, Lusaka. The aid consisted of oxygen generators, personal protective equipment (PPE), oxygen masks, and other protective equipment.
