CAIRO - 8 December 2022: Egypt signed an agreement of understanding with Taqa Arabia company, one of the Citadel Capital companies, and its partner, Voltalia, listed on Euronext Paris, to establish, finance and operate a green hydrogen production plant with a capacity of 150 kilotons/year.

The initial phase of the project includes a new green hydrogen production plant with a capacity of 15,000 tons per year near Ain Sukhna port in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, using electrolysis technology with a capacity of 100 megawatts and equipped with 283 megawatts of renewable energy, according to a statement.

The project is scheduled to expand later to reach a production capacity of 150,000 tons per year, with a total electrolysis capacity of 1 gigawatt provided by a total of 2.7 gigawatts of solar and wind energy, provided that the Egyptian government provides the required land to build the project on.
