Trade exchange between Egypt, Arab countries increases by19.2% in H1 of 2022

CAIRO - 1 November 2022: Trade exchange between Egypt and the Arab countries increased by 19.2 percent during the first half of 2022, to record $14.4 billion, compared to $12.1 billion during the same period in 2021, according to a report by the Central Agency For Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
 
CAPMAS revealed that Egypt’s exports to Arab countries amounted to $5.9 billion during the first half of 2022, compared to $5.4 billion during the same period in 2021, marking an increase of $466.5 million or 8.6 percent.
 
Saudi Arabia topped the list of the top 10 Arab countries importing from Egypt during the first half of 2022, with Egypt's exports reaching $1.2 billion, followed by the UAE at $955.2 million, Libya at $525 million, Sudan at $441.4 million, Morocco at 396.4 $1 million, Jordan at $361.8 million, Algeria at $352.8 million, Iraq at $276.1 million, Kuwait at $265.6 million, and Lebanon at $220 million.
 
The value of Egyptian imports from the Arab countries increased to reach $8.5 billion during the first half of 2022, compared to $6.6 billion during the same period in 2021, with an increase of $1.9 billion, or 27.8 percent.
 
Moreover, Saudi Arabia topped the list of the top 10 Arab countries exporting to Egypt during the first half of 2022, with Egypt's imports reaching $4.3 billion, followed by Kuwait $1.4 billion, the UAE $1.3 billion, Oman $412.5 million, and Bahrain $269.1 million.  Sudan’s exports to Egypt recorded $261.6 million, followed by Jordan at $120.7 million, Lebanon at $108.4 million, Libya at $51.5 million, and Qatar at $39.5 million.
 
The value of remittances from Egyptians working in Arab countries increased 10.9 percent to reach $21.9 billion during the fiscal year 2020/21, compared to $19.8 billion during the fiscal year 2019/2020.
 
This comes as the value of Arab remittances working in Egypt decreased 2.5 percent to $114.9 million during the fiscal year 2020/2021, compared to $117.8 million during the fiscal year 2019/2020.
 
Saudi Arabia ranked first in the list of the top 10 Arab countries in the value of remittances from Egyptians working in it during the fiscal year 2020/2021, where the value of remittances from workers in it amounted to $11.2 billion, followed by Kuwait with $4.4 billion, then the UAE with $3.4 billion, Qatar with $1.5 billion, Jordan $774.2 million, Oman $162 million, Bahrain $104.1 million, Yemen $79.9 million, Iraq $43.7 million, and Lebanon $39.5 million.
 
The value of Arab countries’ investments in Egypt recorded $3.98 billion during the fiscal year 2020/2021, compared to $4 billion during the fiscal year 2019/2020, marking a decrease of 0.4 percent.
 
The UAE ranked first in the list of the top 10 Arab countries investing in Egypt during the fiscal year 2020/2021; where the value of its investments in Egypt recorded $2.8 billion, followed by Saudi Arabia $622 million, Kuwait $217.8 million, Bahrain $160.4 million, Oman $68.8 million, Qatar $59.8 million, Jordan $56.7 million, and Libya 12.5 million $6.5 million, Lebanon $6.5 million, and Tunisia $5.5 million.
