CAIRO – 21 August 2022: The World's Top Exports website released a report on the global sales of cement exports in 2021, indicating that Egypt ranked eighth worldwide, and that it is the fastest-growing cement exporter since 2020, recording a rise in the value of its cement exports of 189.4 percent.

The total value of the world's cement exports in 2021 is $12.9 billion, with Egypt's share being 3.1 percent, which is $393.8 million.

The report pointed out that cement exports grew globally by 27.1 percent and 12.3 percent compared to 2017 and 2021, respectively, when the amounts were $10.1 billion and $11.45 billion.

The top five cement exporters, accounting – combined - for 40.1 percent of the global total, are Vietnam, Turkey, Germany, Canada, and Thailand. It is also noted that just 25 countries make up 77.1 percent of the world's cement exports.

The Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory & Metallurgy Industries (ECBM) revealed in April that Egypt exported cement to 45 countries in the first two months of 2022.

The value of the shipments is $104 million, compared to $43 million in the same period of 2021. Also, the list of importing countries included 11 new ones that did not import cement from Egypt during the same period in 2021.

Six countries acquired 66.3 percent of total Egyptian cement exports in January and February, the council noted.

Ghana topped the list of cement importers from Egypt with imports of $23.2 million in the first two months of 2022, followed by Cameroon with imports worth $12.2 million, Ivory Coast with imports of $10.8 million and Libya with imports amounting to $8.3 million, the council clarified.
