CAIRO – 6 July 2022: Chairman of the General Authority for Industrial Development Mohamed al-Zalat displayed Tuesday in a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli more details on the establishment of 13 industrial complexes nationwide.
The official pointed out that those consist of a total of 4,413 units, including 1,083 – located across seven complexes - that were offered for purchase in 2020. The activities designated for those are mainly in the sectors of plastics, food processing, chemicals, engineering, mineral processing, and textiles among others.
Zalat added that the rest of units, whose number is 2,556, are being offered to operate in the sectors of textiles, ready-made garments, engineering, decorative building materials, pharmaceuticals, and leather manufacturing.
Assistant to the Minister of Housing Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim stated in a phone-in in June that 25 percent of the surface area of New Alamain City is allocated to industrial activities.
The official clarified that the industrial zone is located southern the city in the desert area. The activities there are expected to be relevant to agribusiness, as the site very close to the New Delta, which is a project targeted at reclaiming 2.2 million feddans (one feddan equals 4,500 square meters) in the desert.
Ibrahim further pointed out that the project is not just offering units and hotels for domestic and international tourists to spend their holidays by the Mediterranean but also comprises universities and large hospitals.
