CAIRO – 6 July 2022: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker stated Tuesday that the draft agreement between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates to establish a wind farm with a capacity of 10 gigawatts has been finished, and that it would be signed later in July after Eid Al Adha.
The minister made the statement in a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan al-Gaber, Head of Abu Dhabi Executive Office Khaldoun al-Mubarak, CEO of Masdar (also known as Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) Mohamed al-Romhy, and CEO of ADNOC Khaled Salmin.
The meeting also covered potential projects between the Egyptian and Emirati sides in the fields of building telecommunications towers.
The Emirati minister briefed the Egyptian prime minister on the talks held in the recent period on bilateral partnerships in prospective projects as well as trilateral ones, comprising Jordan.
The collaboration among the three states is dubbed "the Industrial Complementary Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development." The next meeting of the initiative's supreme committee will be held later in July in Cairo to further discuss the implementation of projects agreed upon.
Minister Gaber was also received by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi Tuesday to discuss bolstering cooperation in the sectors of information technology, energy, and telecommunications. The president said that Egypt looks forward to support that would enable both countries fulfill their interests.
In turn, Minister Gaber commended the investment climate in Egypt, which offers various outstanding opportunities on the Middle Eastern and African levels. The minister also expressed his country's eagerness for reinforcing the frameworks of strategic cooperation between both states on all scales.
