CAIRO - 13 June 2022: The navigation path pf the Suez Canal received 22 thousand ships this fiscal year compared to 19 thousand ships last year, recording an increase of 15 percent, according to Lieutenant-General Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority. 
 
The tonnage was 1.190 billion tons, and this year 1.320 billion tons, recording an increase of 10.8 percent, he added.
 
He explained, during a telephone interview on TV program that the revenues were 5.840 billion dollars last year, while this year it was close to reaching 7 billion dollars.
 
He pointed out that there is a boom in maritime transport despite the war between Russia and Ukraine, and we follow a marketing policy, and give incentives to increase the transit of ships, explaining that the Russian-Ukrainian war affected the Suez Canal positively.
 
The head of the Suez Canal Authority stated that work is underway on the fish farming project, and the areas of the ponds are being modified to two acres instead of an acre for the basin, and 10 companies are working to finish in March next year.
