CAIRO – 1 May 2022: The General Authority for Red Sea Ports, and a coalition, formed by Abu Dhabi Ports Group and Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Terminals (EGMPT), signed on the weekend the memorandum of terms and conditions on the construction, management, and operation of the superstructure of the Multipurpose Terminal at Safaga Seaport.

The terminal spans over 81 hectares, and its quays are extended on a total of 1,000 meters with a depth of 17 meters. Those are equipped for the circulation of containers, all types of goods, solid bulk cargo, and bulk liquid, as indicated by the press statement released Saturday.

The facility will be launched in 2024, facilitating external trade southern the Nile Valley, and in the Golden Triangle, stretching between the southern sections of Upper Egypt and the Red Sea.

The signing was attended by Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir, who also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the same parties on the upgrade, management, and operation of the quays, where cruise ships dock, at the seaports of Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, and Safaga.

The MoU simultaneously includes providing services to those vessels, and operating a cruise ship line between Abu Dhabi, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, and Aqaba.
