Spinneys OPENS a New store in Nasr city

Spinneys continues to expand in Egypt with its latest opening of a new store in Nasr City on 30 April. The store is located in Abdel Hamid Lotfy street next to “El Serag Mall’. The opening marks an important milestone for the company as it continues its expansion drive across the country through 2022.

“This is our first store in the Nasr City area and it reflects our ongoing commitment to the Egyptian market in spite of the global health and economic challenges,” Spinneys CEO Mohanad Adly, said.  “This marks the second store opening this year after the successful launch of our Zahraa El Maadi store earlier in February. We want to introduce Spinneys to as many Egyptian consumers as we possibly can, and we will be looking at locations not just in Cairo, but across various other main cities as well.”

Spinneys opened its first branch in Egypt in 2006 and has since made significant strides to increase its presence locally and to enhance the brand’s image and awareness. The company’s new growth strategy is focused on reaching shoppers in urban areas with an upgraded supermarket concept, while also offering fresh innovations in its core hypermarket stores.

“Our growth plan looks different today than it did a few years back, driven by shoppers’ expectations for convenience and high service levels”, said Adly. “The supermarket format offers an exceptional quick-trip shopping experience to meet those needs for consumers who are becoming busier every day. The varying size and locations of these stores will enable Spinneys to create a unique shopping experience with an extensive food variety customized for each community.”

Spinneys started in Cairo in 2006 and brought a unique shopping experience to Egyptian consumers, who have an affinity for high quality goods and services and great value. Currently, the retailer operates 19 stores in Egypt and employs approx. 2000 employees. The new store has created an additional 150 new jobs.

This is the second store opening for Spinneys this year following the successful launch of the Zahraa El Maadi branch earlier this year. Two more Spinneys stores are currently under construction in Cairo and the North Coast and are both scheduled to open in June this year.
