CAIRO - 6 April 2022: Egypt's copper exports spiked 45 percent from January to February 2022 to reach $62 million, compared to $43 million in the same period last year.
In its recent report released on Tuesday, the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory & Metallurgy Industries (ECBM) said the copper exports were shipped to 23 countries worldwide.
The council added that the US, Taiwan, Singapore were not among Egyptian copper importers in the same period last year.
Saudi Arabia topped copper importers from Egypt during the first two months of 2022, registering $36.3 million, it said.
Lebanon came second in the list of importers with a value of $6.6 million, followed by China with $5.2 million, Algeria with $4.6 million and Greece with $2 million, the council noted.
Also, the report showed that Egypt's glass exports from January to February 2022 rose by 27 percent to hit $84 million, against $66 million in the same period last year.
