CAIRO - 10 March 2022: Egypt has witnessed a quantum leap to move to an unprecedented digitalised society, said the chairman of the board of the communications division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FECC) Ehab Saeed.
In a statement Thursday, Saeed added that the coronavirus pandemic has contributed to accelerating the pace of digital transformation and the growth of demand for the information technology industry.
The number of e-wallets grew in the Egyptian market to record 26 million thanks to the measures taken by the Ministries of Finance and Communications and Information Technology, he said
Subsequently, transactions using e-wallets increased to hit LE 268 billion in value on an annual basis, he noted, citing data issued by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
